Idil Ibrahim is a Somali-American LA-based Producer/Actress. She has worked for TRANSIT GAME in Beirhut, Lebanon, and HOMECOMING by Jim Chuchu, alongside Wanuri Kahiu (PUMZI, FROM A WHISPER), as part of the African Metropolis Program: 7 Directors, 7 Cities, supported by the Rotterdam Film Festival Hubert Bals Fund, and the South African Goethe Institute, and selected as part of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival Contemporary World Cinema category. Idil stars in Cutter Shepard Hodierne's Sundance winner film FISHING WITHOUT NETS produced by VICE in Kenya.
Idil served as an associate producer on the film LAREDO, TEXAS by Topaz Adizes which was an official selection of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and on the film TRECE AÑOS shot in Cuba selected for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, the Aspen Shortsfest, GenArt, Los Angeles International, Ashland Independent Film Festivals, also featured at Pangaea Day, a global multimedia event simultaneously broadcast in locations around the globe such as Kigali, Cairo, London, Rio de Janeiro, and New York, with the mission and purpose to decrease divisions and create global unity through the power of filmmaking.
Idil has traveled to south-central Somalia on behalf of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to cover drought and conflict response programs, specifically Livelihood, Water and Sanitation (WASH) programs in the IDP camps and for the host community. The videos were released for UNESCO's World Water Day. Idil also produced the documentary KADI, SAVING MOTHERS AND BABIES, and co-directed a series of webisodes for Population Council on Reproductive Health filmed throughout Kenya and south-western Uganda. Idil is currently developing a feature film in Senegal.
Idil is a film graduate at Berkeley, University of California, a Nadine Abigail Arts Fellowship recipient, and a participant in the Tribeca All Access program at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. She is a US citizen, has produced prohects extensively in Serbia, Japan, Turkey, Somalia, Lebanon, Senegal, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, and is fluent in English, Somali, and Basic Swahili.
