J. Xavier Velasco is an award-winning Writer/Director based in Brooklyn. His short film Juan & La Borrega (2011) was nominated to an Academy Ariel Award nomination in 2012 for best short fiction film and screened at more than thirty international film festivals like AFI Fest and Palm Springs International Short Fest. His latest short film Zerch (2015) world premiered at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea and also screened at more than thirty international film festivals like Havana Film Festival, Horrible Imaginings Film Festival and Paris Courts Devant. His sci-fi short film g. (2010) received the “Vimeo Staff Pick” recognition and has been played over 84K times. 

Xavier’s work is defined by the exploration of the otherly, set in an unsettling alternate reality and told through highly stylized visuals and emotional acting. Xavier graduated with a Bachelor of Physics Degree before becoming a Filmmaker. 

Xavier is currently post-producing his latest sci-fi short film “Atl” and developing his first feature film.
